Description
CHISEL PLOW (3 TINES)
The Chisel Plow is the primary tillage deep plow, working up to 20″ to ensure the development of the crop root system at proper depth and environment. It is an ideal implement where the topsoil is fertile but the subsoil is not productive. The Chisel Plow increases soil’s natural fertility as deep tillage provides enough air, moisture, and sunlight circulation into the soil.
For full penetration in the first pass, a 50 to 85-hp tractor would be required. A medium (50 hp) tractor will plow 12″ in the first pass and a full 20″ depth will be attained in the second pass.
With only one central tine fitted it can work as a subsoiler and up to maximum depth for breaking off the hard pan even with a 50-hp tractor. Yield per acre can be increased considerably by deep plowing for wheat, cotton, and sugar cane crops. Best fruit orchard growth is ensured by deep tillage before tree plantation. In rain-fed areas, the Chisel Plow is an ideal implement because without disturbing topsoil it shatters the subsoil portion of land, maintaining moisture for longer periods and safe-guarding against water and wind erosion of top soils.
